· About Play Tag Rugby ·
Building a home for tag rugby.
One game at a time.
Tag rugby is one of the fastest, friendliest, and most inclusive sports out there — and it deserves a national home in the United States. That's what we're here to build.
· The Sport ·
What is tag rugby?
Tag rugby (also called touch rugby) is a fast, non-contact variant of rugby. Players wear a belt with two velcro tags hanging off each hip — pulling a tag is the equivalent of a tackle. The game emphasises footwork, passing, and teamwork instead of physical contact, which makes it welcoming to beginners and brutal-good when played at a high level.
It's typically played 6-a-side on a half-pitch, co-ed, with rolling subs and short halves. Almost anyone can pick it up in an hour. It's the perfect entry point to rugby — and a serious sport in its own right, played at international level under the Federation of International Touch (FIT) and World Rugby pathways.
· Why We Exist ·
No governing body. No problem.
The sport is growing in the US, but the infrastructure isn't — so we're building it.
Find a game
A single national directory of clubs, leagues, and pickup games — searchable by city, state, or format.
Connect organisers
The people running tag rugby in their cities are doing it solo. We help them share what works.
Start a game
As participation grows, so does the calendar of cross-city tournaments and regional play.
· Governance ·
Volunteer-run. Community-led.
Independent and free
Play Tag Rugby is an independent, non-profit-style directory. Listing your group is free and always will be. We don't take a cut of clubs, leagues, or tournaments. We encourage sponsors to support us when they can — that support helps keep approvals fast and the lights on.
Open to organisers
No fees, no fines, no red tape. We provide you with the tools — from data to the table — to help grow your community. If you run a group, you have a voice here.
· Founding Year ·
Est. 2026 · Built for the next decade of tag rugby in the US.
We're intentionally small and focused right now — the priority is getting every real group on the map. Formal governance (board, bylaws, regional reps) gets built as the community asks for it.
· Get Involved ·
Help build it.
